U.S.P.S. Working 7 Days a Week to Deliver Xmas Presents
Many post offices have moved to seven days a week delivery to prevent a backlog of packages. Sunday, U.S.P.S. delivered 4.6 million packages nationwide. Monday, Gulfport’s Post Master, Larry Delahunt, spoke with News 25 about how to get through lines as quickly as possible with some helpful tips.
Delahunt says, “Some folks really don’t come here throughout the year. This is their only time that they mail a package. So really just wrapping it up properly with tape, make sure there’s plenty of cushion on the inside, and always recommend you put your name and address on the inside. Just in case something does happen and that package comes open, we do have something to identify you by.”
The Highway 49 post office has extended hours on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and normal hours Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
