U.S. News and World Reports ranks several Coast schools top 10 in state

U.S. News and World Reports has put several Coast high schools among the best in Mississippi.

Biloxi, Pass Christian, and Ocean Springs High were placed fourth, sixth, and seventh.

College readiness, graduation rates, and underserved student performance were a few of the metrics used for the ranking.

Today, News 25 went out to Pass Christian High, which has placed consistently among the top ten in the state for more than a decade. Pass Christian High teacher Leslie Leyser said, “They trust us and we love the kids. And so therefore they understand we have high expectations for them no matter what path they’re going down – and we just push them and have the expectation they’re going to succeed and we help them in every way that we possibly can.”

Pass Christian High senior Mallory Williams said, “I think just that, we are so blessed to have such a small school. Everybody knows everyone, everyone wants everyone to succeed. I think that’s pushed us all as a whole to be so high ranked, I guess.”

The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science was ranked first in the state this year.
