Two trap-neuter-and release programs join forces in Ocean Springs

The City of Ocean Springs held a board meeting tonight. The topic that received the most attention was a discussion regarding the Feral Feline Coalition.
The newly founded organization has been serving the City of Ocean Springs for the past ten months with their trap-neuter-and release program. During that time they have fixed 83 felines and re-homed 43 others.
At tonight’s meeting, Helene Hicks, president for Pink Paws Spay and Neuter, brought up concerns about the Feral Feline Coalitions practices.
The board of alderman decided on setting a separate meeting for the two groups to discuss their concerns and come up with a way to work together to better serve the City of Ocean Springs. Feral Feline Coalition Founder Linda Cox said, “They heard that we put the animals right back to the colonies right after surgery, right after being medicated and that’s just not true. So, we had a long talk with them in the hallway and straightened out a lot of that information. I would love to work 50-50 with this group so we could get so much more accomplished.”
Cox also says that moving forward she would like to propose the city passes a law prohibiting the dumping of animals.
