Two teenagers, woman arrested in relation to shooting in Gulfport

Three people have been arrested in regards to a shooting in Gulfport on Tuesday.

The Gulfport Police Department arrested a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old are charged them with five counts of aggravated assault and one count of tampering with physical evidence.

Their mother, 34-year-old Rometria Coleman, was charged with one count of hindering prosecution.

On March 4th, Gulfport police officers responded to the 3900 block of Ponderosa Drive in reference to a shooting.

During the investigation, detectives learned that the two teenagers had previously been involved in a verbal argument with someone. When that person arrived at their home, the teenagers brandished guns and began firing. Two victims were struck and sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. They were transported to a local hospital and are in stable condition.

Coleman denied her sons’ involvement and instructed them not to cooperate with the investigation. A search warrant was obtained for their home, leading to the discovery of several firearms.

All three were processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center and being held without bond.
