Two teenagers arrested in Gulfport on charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault

On February 21, 2023, the Gulfport Police Department arrested 16-year-old Zyion Bell and charged him with one count of Armed Robbery and one count of Aggravated Assault.
On February 24, 2023, the Gulfport Police Department arrested 17-year-old Michael Carleon Casey and charged him with one count of Armed Robbery and one count of Aggravated Assault.
On February 15, 2023, at approximately 2:17 a.m., Officers responded to the area of South Street and East Avenue in reference to a shooting.
Upon arrival, Officers located a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Through the course of the investigation, Detectives determined the victim picked up Bell and Casey after they had asked for a ride. Once in the vehicle, Bell and Casey brandished firearms and attempted to rob the victim. The victim fled from his vehicle and was subsequently shot by both suspects. Bell and Casey then took the victim’s vehicle and fled the scene.
The victim was transported to a local area hospital where he was treated and released. It was discovered that Bell was out on bond for a previous Armed Robbery that occurred in Gulfport and Casey was out on bond for a previous Armed Robbery that occurred in Hancock County.
Bell and Casey were processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center to be held in lieu of their $500,000 bond set by Judge Patano.
