Two people charged in Jackson County murder

A Gautier man and a Moss Point teen are charged in the shooting death of another teen.

Sheriff John Ledbetter says deputies found the body of 17-year-old Keontae Dewayne Colbert on Monday night about 9:40 p.m., lying on the ground on Wildwood Road off Highway 63 in Escatawpa.

The sheriff says the teen was shot.

After serving search warrants, investigators arrested a 17-year-old Michael Todd Ward Jr., of Moss Point. He is charged as an adult with first degree murder.

18-year-old Kenta Derell McCann of Gautier is charged with accessory after the fact.

Ledbetter says the murder weapon was found, but the motive is still under investigation.

Both men were taken to the Jackson County jail and are being held without bond pending an initial hearing.
