Two Men and a Truck give back to mothers in need across the Coast
To show their appreciation for mothers, Two Men and a Truck decided to help mothers in need across the Coast by collecting items for the Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence.
Mother’s Day is a time to give thanks and show appreciation for all the hard work that mothers do. Many times, those mothers living in shelters are looked over.
Two Men and a Truck decided to load up their truck for the annual Movers and Moms donation event and drop off some much-needed items at the Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence. Sales and Marketing Manager Emily Sham said, “So, it’s just certain items like diapers, pajamas, slippers, anything that would make a mom feel good or be able to not have to worry about having a diaper or some wipes for their kiddos. Anything like that to help them feel good.”
Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence provides help to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault along with family members who have also been impacted by violence. Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence CEO Stacey Riley said, “They come to our shelter facility after leaving a traumatic experience. So, they leave everything behind and many of them come to our shelter program with nothing. So, starting from scratch with basic necessities of things to have on a daily basis. We rely heavily on the community to help us with gathering these types of items.”
Movers for Moms was a little bit different this year. Two Men and a Truck was not able to set up drop-off locations everywhere due to the pandemic, but they say that they were still able to get a good amount of donations. “I would say we probably got 100 or 200 items donated. Pillows, things like that, but I know anything helps the shelter and they are so appreciative of what we do.”
Riley says these items will make each mom feel very special. “This is going to be the icing on the cake and it just communicates a lot to the people we serve about how much they are cared for.”
