Two incumbents defeated in runoff elections in Harrison County

HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)-Big news in the two runoff elections in Harrison County tonight as two incumbents go down in defeat.

Longtime incumbent Gulfport Ward 1 councilmember Truck Casey is defeated by Democratic primary challenger Kendal Buckner.

Buckner will be the new Ward 1 councilman after getting 60 percent of the vote against Casey.

In Biloxi’s Ward 3 GOP runoff, incumbent Dixie Newman is defeated against political newcomer Robert Nial.

Neil garnered 61 percent of the vote to Newman’s 38 percent, according to unofficial results.

In each of these races, the candidates face no general election opposition, so these runoffs are tantamount to election.
