Two dead in standoff in Biloxi

On Saturday evening, Biloxi police responded to a call off of Brodie Road where a man was locked in his home claiming he was going to take his own life.

Shortly after 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, Biloxi police responded to a call in reference to a man who said he was going to take his own life. Major Chris De Back said, “When officers responded he had locked himself in the residence. We surrounded the residence, hoping for a peaceful outcome.”

Officers surrounded the home for over two hours trying to convince the suspect to come outside. He refused, forcing the SWAT team to enter the home. “He did. It appears that he did, was suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He is being transported to a local area hospital for further treatment.”

After getting to the hospital, the suspect died from his injuries. After launching an investigation, investigators came across the body of an unidentified female. “It appears that he shot and killed a young female in her 20s. We’re still investigating, still gathering information.”

According to law enforcement, the female found was an ex-girlfriend of the suspect. They have one child together.

The standoff was a surprise to Reunion Place residents who couldn’t have imagined this ever happening where they live. Resident Alex Gelacio said, “We were actually very scared. When we saw the SWAT team come out with their trucks and vans and stuff, we were like ‘oh wow, let’s hope it’s not one of our close neighbors in danger.’”

This investigation is still ongoing as the Biloxi Police Department tries to gather additional information. Biloxi police ask if anyone has any additional information to please come forward.
