UPDATE: Victims identified in shooting at Walmart gas station
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Gulfport Police are investigating a shooting that left two people dead and another injured Tuesday afternoon at a local gas station.
Officers responded at 1:33 p.m. to the Walmart Neighborhood Market gas station on Highway 49 North. Gulfport police discovered three individuals suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Two of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer has identified those victims as 24-year-old Ontario Randle of Moss Point and 29-year-old Shaquari Smith of Gulfport. Smith sustained mutilple gunshot wounds, while Randle suffered a single gunshot wound. The third victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Authorities say one person has been detained in connection with the incident. Preliminary investigation indicates the individuals involved were acquainted.
