Two Coast student artists place in MDWFP art contest

Two Coast students placed in their age groups in an art contest as part of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.

Students from across the state submitted artwork for the 2021 Youth Art Contest.

The first-place winners are:

• Annalee LeDuff – Madison, MS/Jackson Academy (ages 16-19) for “Deer in Spring”
• Anthony Loper – Water Valley, MS/Water Valley High (ages 12-15) for his piece “Wood Duck.”
• Trinity Woodard – Olive Branch, MS/Olive Branch Intermediate (ages 8-11) for “At Peace.”
• Amelia Watson – Collinsville, MS/West Lauderdale Elementary (ages 5-7) for “Woodpecker the Beauty”

In Category II (ages 8-11), Margarita S. Kalinovskaya of St. Martin Gifted Center took third place for her print, pastels, chalk and crayons drawing entitled “Mississippi Flounder.”

In Category III (ages 12-15) Savannah Priddy of St. Martin Gifted Center took second place for her print, pastels, chalk and crayon drawing entitled “Flat Flounder.”

The artwork of the top three finishers plus honorable mentions in each age group is available for viewing here. The contest was sponsored by the Foundation for Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.

Margarita S. Kalinovskaya placed third in Category II for her drawing “Mississippi Flounder.”
