Two Coast Senators appointed to serve on newly created redistricting committee

The Mississippi Senate is following the state House’s lead in creating a special committee focused on the issue of redistricting.

Two South Mississippi state senators are members of this committee, put into place by Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann.

Brice Wiggins and Jeremy England will join eight other senators tasked with reviewing data and gathering information related to potential redistricting of Mississippi congressional and judicial districts.

Lt. Gov. Hosemann says this move was made due to the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision in Louisiana vs. Callias as well as Governor Tate Reeves move to cancel the special legislative session on redistricting.
