Two Coast men sentenced for second-degree murder and aggravated assault

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- Two men were sentenced to one count of second-degree murder and one count of aggravated assault each in Harrison County.
Twenty-one-year-old Rashod Omrion Jarome Harris pled guilty on October 13. Nineteen-year-old Harry Lavern Hillard Jr. pled guilty on July 24.
Assistant District Attorney Mara Joffe said the investigation into the murder and aggravated assault began on August 26, 2023. Biloxi Police Department responded to McDonnell Avenue after a report of multiple gunshots fire.
Upon arrival, officers found 20-year-old Damari Daniels and 22-year-old Shadavion Smith suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Daniels died on scene.
Hillard Jr. and Harris were identified as suspects after an investigation. They were both arrested less than a week after the shooting.
Both Harris and Hillard were sentenced to 58 years, with 30 years suspended, leaving 28 years to serve in the Mississippi Department of Corrections. They will each have to complete ten years of post-release supervision at such time as they are released from prison.
