Two charged in relation to shooting in Gulfport
On April 20, 2023, the Gulfport Police Department arrested 19-year-old Kevonte Winters and charged him with one count of Discharging a Firearm in City Limits and 20-year-old Charles Gandy and charged him with one count of Possession of Marijuana.
On April 20, 2023, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the Gulfport Police Department was notified by a local area hospital that a victim suffering from a gunshot wound entered their facility.
Through the course of the investigation, Officers were able to locate a crime scene and made contact with Gandy. Gandy was found to be in possession of marijuana and multiple firearms. Detectives learned Gandy and Winters were smoking marijuana inside a shed when the victim, who was a friend, opened the shed doors while wearing a black hoodie.
