Two cases of cyclosporiasis reported in Mississippi
Two cases of cyclosporiasis have now been confirmed in Mississippi.
Details are limited, but we do know one case is on the Mississippi Coast and the other case was reported in the Pine Belt region.
Symptoms of the illness include watery diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and loss of appetite.
State health leaders say the best ways to reduce the risk of infection are to thoroughly wash your hands before and after using the restroom, and also carefully wash any fresh produce you may have with water and refrigerate it for up to two hours after prepping it.
