Two arrested on multiple felony drug distribution charges in Harrison County

HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- Two Gulfport men have been arrested on felony drug distribution charges.

Thirty-eight-year-old Dwan Parnell was charged with federal drug and firearms violations. 34-Year-old Deante Hinton was charged with state charges of trafficking in a controlled substance for cocaine, crack cocaine, and marijuana.

The arrests stem from an attempted traffic stop on Thursday, March 27th. Harrison County Narcotics Task Force attempted to stop a vehicle on Pass Road near Stennis Drive in Biloxi. Parnell tried to flee on foot and was apprehended. After searching his vehicle, officers found cocaine.

After further investigation, officers searched two homes and a hotel room and found more drugs and multiple firearms.

Hinton was apprehended during the search of one of the houses and found in possession of illicit currency, crack cocaine, cocaine, and marijuana.

In all, over 10 ounces of cocaine, 70 grams of crack cocaine, three pounds of marijuana, two handguns, a rifle, and over $4,000 in illicit currency was seized.

Hinton and Parnell were transported to Harrison County Jail. Hinton is being held in lieu of a $150,000 bond. Parnell is being held without bond.
