A Bay St. Louis man and a juvenile have been charged with commercial burglary in connection with a break-in and robbery of a store on Highway 90 in Waveland.

Police Chief Mike Prendergast said 29-year-old Jarrett Garth of Bay St. Louis was charged with burglary of a commercial dwelling. He was taken to Hancock County jail and bond was set at $10,000.

A 17-year-old juvenile was charged with two counts of burglary of a commercial dwelling and during an interview with investigators, admitted to a previous burglary at the same location months prior. His case will be handled by Hancock County Youth Court.

Prendergast said officers responded to a burglar alarm going off at Smoke A-Z on Wednesday morning and found that the power had been cut off and the front door broken. No one was on premises when officers arrived, but they found several empty boxes of vapes on the floor. Investigators found evidence on the premises that led them to question and subsequently arrest Garth and the juvenile.
