Two arrested in relation to incident at Riverchase Park Apartments

On March 18, 2024, the Gulfport Police Department arrested 37-year-old Deeanna Marie Jackson and charged her with one count of discharging a firearm in city limits. Also arrested was 29-year-old Lugene Gitrell Scott, charged with one count of simple assault.

On March 18, 2024, at approximately 7:02 a.m., officers responded to the 11000 block of Highland Avenue in reference to a possible shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a victim suffering from injuries to his face, believed to be a possible gunshot wound. Detectives determined that Scott and the victim got into a physical altercation, which caused injuries to the victim’s face.

Jackson discharged a firearm into the ground as a scare tactic to try to stop the fight.
