Two arrested during checkpoint in Pearl River County

PEARL RIVER COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department is sharing details on a narcotics arrest that took place on August 12.

The arrest happened at a safety checkpoint on Highway 13 in Lumberton.

While conducting the checkpoint, deputies found Robert Smith and Tina Walters in a car. According to deputies, Smith did not have a valid driver’s license or insurance for his car. He was taken into custody for traffic violations.

Deputies searched the car and found meth, a digital scale, and other drug paraphernalia.

Both Smith and Walters were brought to the Pearl River County Criminal Justice Center.

Smith was booked on the traffic violations and possession of a controlled substance. Walters was booked for disorderly conduct and possession of a controlled substance.
