Two arrested, charged with drive-by shooting in Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Two people are behind bars in Gulfport in relation to a drive-by shooting.

The Gulfport Police Department arrested twenty-three-year-old Elijah Young and 18-year-old Zykendrick Harper and charged them both with two counts of drive-by shooting.

On November 30, officers responded to I-10 near mile marker 34 in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

During the investigation, officers learned that Young and Harper had been involved in a fight at a club prior to the incident. According to police, Harper, acting under Young’s instruction, followed the victim’s vehicle on I-10, firing the gun multiple times, striking the victim.

The victim was transported to a hospital and is in critical condition.

Young and Harper were taken into custody and transported to Harrison County Adult Detention Center. They’re both being held on a $1,000,000 bond each.
