Two arrested after attempted armed robbery leads to shooting in Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Two people have been arrested after an attempted robbery led to a shooting Monday evening in Gulfport, police said.

Officers responded around 5:09 p.m. on Aug. 24 to the area of West Oak Drive and Victory Street, where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators determined the victim was shot during an attempted armed robbery.

Detectives identified a 15-year-old as a suspect and later located him at StoneGate Arms Apartments. Twenty-one year-old Ariana Jackson was also found at the complex, and both were taken into custody without incident.

Police said several firearms and the vehicle used to flee the scene were recovered during the arrests.

Both suspects were charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault. They were booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center with bonds set at $500,000 each.
