Twelve teachers receive Leo W. Seal Innovative Teacher Grant

Twelve teachers were honored today for their hard work with the Leo W. Seal Innovative Teacher Grant.

Each year, Hancock Whitney gives a grant of up to $2,000 to teachers who are committed to educational excellence and teaching creativity.

These teachers each have a project proposal that this grant will help fund.

Stephanie Stanley from Lyman Elementary School is one educator chosen for this award

.

She will be challenging her second through sixth-grade gifted students to become entrepreneurs.

“My students are going to create a business plan and become an entrepreneur from the ground up,” Stanley said. “They are going to design a 3D-printed model of a product that they create. They’re going to have to market it. They’re going to have to figure out financial plans for it and what the profit is going to be. Then, they’re going to create a commercial. It’s really important, more so for my kids than it is for me. They wouldn’t have these opportunities if it wasn’t for corporations like this that help us out.”

Congratulations to all twelve educators!
