Tulane Cuts Ribbon for new Campus
This morning the Mississippi Gulf Coast branch of Tulane University School of Continuing Studies got to show off their brand new campus, celebrating the end of construction with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Students have been attending classes for a little over a month now at the new campus, located just across the street from its old site at the Edgewater Mall.
Among the perks here, new video cameras and special microphones allow students to video chat and attend classes with teachers and students from Tulane campuses across the country.
Associate Dean Dr. Karen Lucas said, “It is as I’ve said all along, a gift to this community that is truly without value. Our students were so thrilled, our faculty and staff. The president of the university is here to celebrate. This is a great opening for Tulane University School of Continuing Studies. It was a lot of hard work. Six months of just digging in and working to make sure everything was going to finish on time. We did it and we’re here now.”
Today was also the 10 year anniversary since the school reopened its old campus following Hurricane Katrina.
