Try Transit! CTA offering free rides all day Friday

Wanna take a free ride? Try transit! Coast Transit Authority is giving everyone free rides all day this coming Friday.

The CTA will offer rides on all services they operate including trolleys, the beachcomber, the casino hopper, as well as its hybrid buses.

CTA has been operating at about 80 percent compared to pre-COVID statistics, but their casino hopper has fully recovered their tourist demographic, operating at about 110 percent.

Keeping people safe, CTA is still under the TSA mask mandate. All riders must wear a mask and drivers have some available for riders without one. All buses are also sanitized with spaced out seating.

The public is encouraged to meet the management team at the transit centers in Biloxi and Gulfport from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, July 23rd with free food provided. CTA Executive Director Kevin Coggin said, “We encourage people to come out and try it, see the benefits of transit. It’s clean, it’s covid safe, it’s convenient, its low cost, very safe. We got personable drivers, good on time performance, and very good service. Also, it’s an opportunity to reward our everyday riders, give them a free day so they can go out and about and do their business and not have to pay a fare.”

CTA is also looking forward to their August 7th vaccination day, trying to get more shots in arms along the Gulf Coast.
