Tropical storm preparation in Harrison County

As Memorial Day Weekend approaches, the Gulf Coast is preparing for tropical storm Alberto.

Locals in Harrison County are encouraged to stop under the I-110 Bridge in D’Iberville to pick up sandbags for the storm. Another sandbag location is on the other side of the bridge in Biloxi. Shovels and bags are at various locations. However, locals will have to self-serve at most of the sites.

D’Iberville City Manager Clay Jones tells News 25 anytime severe weather like this appears he wants to make sure residents remain safe. “First and foremost, pay attention to weather outlets. Make sure you understand where you live and if they are prone to flooding. Make sure you get out ahead of time. We don’t want anyone to drive through high water. We want to make sure they turn around and don’t drown.”

Sand bags will be available for as long as they are needed for residents.
