Trey Supak named ‘Most Outstanding Pitcher’

It’s been over a month since Trey Supak last pitched for the Biloxi Shuckers, but that month away from the Double A ranks didn’t seem to change anything.

Today, Supak was named the Southern League’s Most Outstanding Pitcher, despite being called up to Triple A San Antonio all the way back on July 26th.

At the time of his promotion, Supak had made 20 starts for the first place Shuckers in addition to starting the Southern League All-Star Game.  Supak was boasting an 11-4 record in those starts to go along with a 2.20 ERA.

Rated as the 12th best prospect of the Milwaukee Brewers, Supak was also leading the league in innings pitched, wins, WHIP, and batting average against.

Even after his promotion, the right-hander is still tied for the league lead in wins, twice coming just one out away from tossing a no-hitter.

He’s the third Shuckers player to ever win the award, following in the footsteps of Jorge Lopez in 2015 and Zach Brown in 2018.

Supak also getting the nod as a Southern League post-season all-star, joining fellow teammates Nate Griep and Patrick Leonard.

Griep earns his place as the Southern League’s best relief pitcher, logging 22 saves in 26 chances.  The right-hander is the all-time franchise leader in saves with 56 in 63 tries.

Meanwhile, Leonard is second in the league with a .301 batting average and has committed only one error at first base in almost 800 innings.
