Traintastic in Gulfport holds Special Senses Day

For the month of September, Traintastic is running its September is Special promo to accommodate those with disabilities.

The world’s largest model train museum has put a focus on welcoming those with challenges from a disability throughout the month.

On Saturday, the focus was on those with sensory challenges.

The museum had various activities for those who are easily overstimulated while educating guests on the various difficulties for those who struggle with a sense.

CEO Cynthia Minton-Walker says this month is about understanding and supporting those who suffer from a disability. “The more we are all together as a community, the stronger we are and the more we understand each other and that’s what this is event this whole month is about. Those in the community who have special needs in their units are always challenged with: where can we go? Where will we not feel like we are a fish out of water so to speak? And that’s one of those things that’s so important to having a community coming together. ”

Traintastic’s September is Special Awareness Month runs through the end of the month, highlighting those with dyslexia next Saturday with fun activities for visitors.
