On 18 July 2017 at approximately 1948 hours an officer with the Biloxi Police Department was conducting a traffic stop on Esters Blvd just east of Magnolia St. on the north side of the tracks. At the same time another driver, a female approximately 30 years of age, was traveling south on Magnolia and went to cross the tracks all while a CSX train was traveling east approaching the same intersection. As the train went to cross, the conductor sounded the horn but the driver traveling north continued her travels. The vehicle rolled over and collided with the police Tahoe and other car. The conductor immediately began emergency stop procedures. Both the officer and other driver were not injured during the crash. The driver of the vehicle struck by the train is being extricated and transported to a local hospital for further treatment. She is alert and conscious. The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time. Crash Investigators have responded to the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
