Toy Drive to benefit Kyleigh Ward at Advance Auto Parts

Now to a follow up on a little girl from Gulfport whose smile and story has captured the hearts of so many.

Six-year-old Kyleigh Ward is waiting on a heart transplant at Texas Children’s Hospital. Kyleigh and her mom will spend Christmas this year in the hospital and away from their loved ones, including Kyleigh’s one-year-old sister Kamree.

To make the holidays a little more cheerful, Team Kyleigh is holding a holiday toy drive at Advance Auto Parts on Highway 49 in Gulfport tomorrow at 10 a.m.

Kyleigh’s mom Briancca tells News 25 the financial strain and separation from family is overwhelming, but she is grateful for the care and support her child receives.

Those inspired by the little girl who loves dancing and playing kitchen say they had to do something for her. “Ever since then, I haven’t been able to get a job, because I always have to be by her side. My mom is retired so she doesn’t work right now. She does get social security every month but that’s the only type of income we are getting. We all complain about little pains like back pain, leg pain, financial reasons or whatever we are going through personally, yet if she can keep pushing, as a kid, then we can keep pushing.”’

Team Kyleigh is asking for people to drop off toys for both her and her baby sister to be delivered in time for Christmas.

Here is a list of some of the items on Kyleigh’s Christmas wish list and ways to donate:
