Tourism meeting in Biloxi

The numbers are in for tourism on the Mississippi Gulf Coast during the 2016 fiscal year.
According to Visit Mississippi Gulf Coast, 6.2 million visitors flocked to the Coast in 2016, an eight percent increase from 2015. Those visitors spent just shy of two billion dollars, up ten percent from 2015. There were a total of 30,300 jobs in leisure and hospitality, an increase of over 2,400 jobs from 2012. Plus overall gaming revenue was up more than five percent in 2016.
Visit Mississippi Gulf Coast Executive Director Renee Areng said, “We know the traveler does not seek boundaries. They seek experience. So as we can tell the stories of each of our communities of each of our counties, whether it’s water based or land, we give the traveler something more to do.”
Visit Mississippi Gulf Coast also continues to promote their One Coast car tag. The tag costs $31 with a $1.25 fee if you pay by credit card. You can register for the specialty tag at Gulfcoast.org.
