‘Touch-a-Truck’ event returns to Long Beach after two years
At the harbor in Long Beach Saturday, first responders and other truck drivers parked their rigs so that some kids could get up close and personal.
The event was cancelled the last two years because of COVID, but this year the crowd returned in full force.
There were vendors, military, police, firefighters, and even waste disposal professionals. The garbage truck was a highlight for some of the kids. Long Beach Chamber of Commerce Director Michelle Kinsey said, “So we definitely have first responders here, we have our military here, and anyone who’s in the service and we just appreciate all that they do for us every day to keep us safe. It allows the children to come and feel safe around them and see what the vehicles are like. We love that the service men and women come and support this event. We have Seabees here, military, fire department, Coast Guard, police department, you name it and they’re here. They want to support their communities, love their communities, and want to show the support for that.”
The Long Beach Chamber of Commerce puts this event together each year.
