Tornado hits neighborhood in Escatawpa

South Mississippi felt the impacts of the storm system.

A tornado hit Escatawpa early Sunday morning. The EF-1 tornado touched down shortly before 3 a.m., making its way past homes just off Highway 613 in Jackson County.

The National Weather Service reported the winds up to 110 miles per hour, traveling just over one mile.

No injuries were reported. However, sixteen homes reported damage.
