Toddler shot in parking lot of Gulfport convenience store

Gulfport Police are investigating a shooting at a convenience store that sent a toddler to the hospital.

Police spokesman Sgt. Jason Ducre’ said officers responded to the Stop N Geaux on Highway 53 at 4:03 p.m. in response to a call of a shooting.

They found a 2-year-old child in the parking lot with a self-inflicted wound. The child was sent by helicopter to a hospital out of state.

Investigators are on scene collecting evidence and talking to witnesses.
