TNT Ranch and Recovery Home Donations
It’s an answered prayer, just in time for Christmas, for the TNT Ranch and Recovery Home in Gulfport. News 25’s Laurene Callander has more on the gifts that came early for this home that is trying to rebuild its facilities and lives of addicts.
Jovon Franklin moved from Atlanta to the Gulf Coast at the end of February. He’s lived at the TNT Ranch and Recovery Home ever since, a move he says saved his life and has helped him turn the page to a new and sober way of living. “Things got really bad,” said Franklin, “I became homeless due to drug and alcohol addiction. Thankfully, I had some good therapists in the last rehab I was at. They sent me out here. At first, you got to adjust just like any other place but once you get out here and stuff like that, it’s more like a family atmosphere.”
But the fate of this recovery home, and the clients it serves, was up in the air after the county deemed it was not up to code last year. Thankfully, after this story aired on News 25 a year ago, donations started pouring in. Because of that, the foundation has been laid for improving and expanding the facility and the lives of clients. “I’m very proud of myself. This time last year, I didn’t see this in the future at all and thank God I held on and thank God for Mr. Tony for accepting me here,” said Franklin.
While things didn’t look too good this time last year for the TNT Ranch and Recovery Home, its director, Tony Stapleton, chose to live by faith not sight. Just two weeks ago, we covered their blessing of the slab ceremony and Stapleton says after our story aired, they received two vehicles and an anonymous donation of $10,000, a gift he calls a God send. “God allowed me to do what I do to help make a difference,” said Stapleton.
The two vehicles donated to the TNT Ranch fit seven people plus the driver. They are going to be used to transport the clients to and from their doctor appointments. “I never expected the community to get behind us and do what they’re doing. It’s a wonderful thing and I’m so excited,” said Stapleton.
TNT Ranch and Recovery Home is hosting two fundraising events tomorrow, both from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. One is at Advance Auto Repair on Highway 49 for a fish fry and car wash. The other is a combined bake sale and yard sale at Crossroads Christian Church off Dedeaux Road.
