Tiger dies from illness at the Hattiesburg Zoo
Hattiesburg Zoo is mourning the death of Cinta, a five-year-old Sumatran Tiger, who passed away from a sudden illness.
Cinta and his twin brother, Kuasa, were born August 2, 2011 and have been on permanent loan from the Los Angeles Zoo since January 2014. The tigers have shared a habitat in Hattiesburg.
Stephen Taylor, animal care manager of Hattiesburg Zoo, says Cinta suddenly stopped eating and drinking last week and became dehydrated. Fluids were administered, but his heart stopped and he could not be revived.
Zoo officials say Kuasa shows no signs of illness.
