Three Picayune baseball players sign their letters of intent to continue their careers at Pear River Community College

It was truly a day of celebration for Picayune Memorial high school athletics. The Maroon Tide baseball program met at the Picayune gym Wednesday morning  to honor three players who signed their letters of intent to continue their athletic careers with Pearl River Community College.

The three seniors who put pen to paper for the Wildcats include shortstop Kyler King and pitchers Tanner Busby and Brady Robertson.

“They’re 30 minutes away from my house for one, I love the coaches there, and it’s a great program to be a part of,” said Busby.  “They do stuff right. I’m really excited and I’m very blessed to be in the situation that I’m in and I’m ready to get started.”

“I wanted to be close to home,” Robertson said. “I’ve been to a lot of football and baseball games and it’s always been close. My dad went there and my mom went there and it kind of felt like home.”

“It’s a life changing experience. All the handwork, dedication, blood, sweat and tears and it finally all got rewarded and I’m so thankful for that,” said King. “It just felt like home from my first step on campus, the coaches, we had a great connection, great facilities and they’re one of the best programs in the world and God gave me a sign, so that was the one.”

The Picayune baseball team will kick off their season in February of 2024.
