Three Mississippi inmates die; One was in privately run prison

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – An inmate has died after being found unresponsive at East Mississippi Correctional Facility.

The private company that runs the prison says medical workers did CPR on 35-year-old Gary Long after he was found Monday. He was pronounced dead.

The Mississippi Department of Corrections says two other inmates have died in recent days. It says 68-year-old James Boggan was pronounced dead Thursday at Promise Hospital in Vicksburg. He had been in South Mississippi Correctional Institution.

Also, 34-year-old Cody Martin died Saturday in the hospital at Parchman prison.

At least 106 Mississippi inmates have died since late last year.
