Three hotels currently under construction in Biloxi

The old Santa Maria Del Mar building in Biloxi is quickly transforming from what used to be an eyesore and taking shape into what will be the Watermark Hotel when completed.
It’s just one of the three new hotels under construction bringing an additional 300 hotel rooms to the city, since the 500 Biloxi saw in 2015 from Margaritaville and the Hyatt Place. Just next door to the Watermark you can see construction beginning for the Hilton Garden Inn and a little further down the street next to the Doubletree we’ll soon see construction for the La Quinta.
These will all be contributing to the non-gaming hotel room count in the city. Vincent Creel with the City of Biloxi Public Affairs said, “Those are the exciting things. It shows the diversity in our economy. We’re not just all about gaming. The other thing it says is that these hotel operators, they see something on the horizon here in Biloxi. They are forward thinking. They see growth in our future and they want to be a part of it.”
Also under construction in Biloxi, a Dunkin Donuts on Cedar Lake, the Mugshots Bar and Grill downtown, and an additional Waffle House on Beach Boulevard.
Additionally a permit with a construction value of $3 million has been issued for the Saltgrass, an upscale steakhouse planned for the northeastern corner of Myrtle Street and U.S. 90.
