Three Gulfport High student athletes are heading to the next level

Over at Gulfport High, three student athletes put pen to paper to continue their athletic careers at the next level.

Cheerleader Noah Owens committed to the Jackson State cheer program and Cheerleader Ashlynn Beaver is heading to Southern Miss for cheer.

Two sport-athlete Savanha Grimsley will continue her career with William Carey’s swim team.

This athletic trio shares with News 25 some of the excitement they’re feeling as they prepare for this next chapter in their lives. Grimsley said, “Very exciting, very nerve wracking, of course, because a whole bunch of people watching you sign your future away, but I’m just excited that I signed it to the right school and I’m excited to see what happens.”

Beaver said, “I grew up going to Southern Miss games and took pictures with the cheerleaders all the time. I was like, that’s what I want to do, but it never crossed my mind that’s what I could do.”

Owens said, “I just know when it’s time to get on the field, I’m going to be doing my thing. You’re going to see me on the field. We’re going to turn up, I can’t wait.”
