Three charged with cutting power lines in Jackson County
Three men are charged with cutting power lines in Jackson County.
57-year-old Robert Brooks, 42-year-old Jeremiah Johnson and 53-year-old Jason Lamkin are each charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and destroying state or federal communications systems.
Johnson also is charged with possession of a controlled substance and for probation violation from Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Lamkin was already in jail on a $25,000 bond after being arrested January 18 for possession of a controlled substance. His bond for each of the two new charges is $25,000. Brooks and Johnson were arrested Monday at Johnson’s home in the Wade community.
Sheriff John Ledbetter says investigators learned the three men were cutting power lines in the Wade community. He says that’s where they found the cut wire owned by AT&T.
The investigation is ongoing and other arrests are possible.
Brooks and Johnson are jailed with no bond. Their initial court hearing is set for Wednesday.
