Three arrested after fleeing Bay St. Louis police during traffic stop
Bay St. Louis Police arrested four suspects today after an attempted traffic stop led to a pursuit.
Chief Toby Schwartz said it began about 12:15 p.m. when the vehicle ran red light on Highway 90 and when police tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver sped off.
The vehicle went into the ditch around Highway 90 and Dunbar Avenue and the occupants tried to flee on foot.
The driver was seen tossing a weapon, which was recovered and one of the other occupants, a female, ran into an office building to hide.
Police had a K-9 ready to go into the building to retrieve the suspect, but she came out and surrendered to police.
Schwartz said there were various items and weapons in the vehicle, which police believe were stolen.
“There were no injuries and everyone is safe,” Schwartz said. “Our officers did a good job of setting up a perimeter and keeping everyone safe.”
Charges against the four are pending completion of the investigation, Schwartz said, but will include felony fleeing and felon in possession of a firearm.
