Thousands of fentanyl pills, drugs seized in Stone County

STONE COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)-Stone County and state law enforcement announced the results of a nearly 15-month long fentanyl and drug bust in the county and surrounding areas.

Stone County Sheriff Todd Stewart was joined by Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell and other federal and state officials for Tuesday’s announcement.

Undercover officers made covert purchases, leading to the recovery of more than 5,000 fentanyl pills, along with cocaine and methamphetamine, and more than 20 guns.

ATF leaders say the fentanyl was being trafficked into Stone County and other areas of our region.

Eight people are in custody in connection to this operation with two people still at-large.

Investigators went on to say the recovery of these drugs will help them with other active investigations in our region as well.
