This weekend is Mississippi Sales Tax Free Weekend

Shopping malls and local retailers are gearing up for crowds of people as state sales tax weekend approaches.

Tomorrow and Saturday, shoppers can hit the stores to pick-up last-minute supplies, clothing, and footwear. The holiday applies to each eligible item selling for less than $100.

For every dollar you spend, you will save seven cents. For every hundred dollars you will save seven dollars.

Items priced at $100 or more are subject to sales tax at the regular retail rate of seven percent. Gulfport Premium Outlets General Manager Pam Meinzinger said, “Come early and beat the rush. It’s going to be a great day. The stores are ready. The customers love this day because it’s a great time to save and I think it will be a great weekend.”

The 2021 Sales Tax Holiday will take place between 12:01 a.m. Friday July 30th and midnight Saturday, July 31st.
