This week is Hurricane Preparedness Week in Mississippi

Hurricane season is less than a month away. Now is the time to prepare for what looks to be another active storm season.

It looks like we are going to see another above average storm season with 16 to 20 named storms and six to eight hurricanes, three to five of which are predicted to be major hurricanes.

This week is Hurricane Preparedness Week in Mississippi.

MEMA Executive Director Stephen McCraney talked about the importance of being prepared. “This time of the year, let’s get ready for hurricanes and those impacts that will happen. You have three days’ worth of supplies, whether it be water, food and shelf stable stuff. We want you to just check out your plan, make sure that you have everything notated down, take a picture of documents. Have those available with you because you never know what you are going to have when you come back if you have to leave the Coast.”
