Thirteen-year-old runaway girl dies in D’Iberville

A 13-year-old runaway found in D’Iberville on Sunday has died.

Keyanna Sylvester reportedly ran away on March 21st, spending time in Ocean Springs and Moss Point before being found in D’Iberville and taken to the hospital.

How she died is unclear according to police.

On March 24, 2022, at approximately 12:56 p.m., D’Iberville Police responded to a local hotel for a medical emergency.

Upon arrival, officers located a female patient who was unresponsive with no available means of identification.

Members of D’Iberville Fire and American Medical Response treated the female on scene and subsequently transported her to a local area hospital.

The female remained in the hospital as Jane Doe until positive identification was made on Sunday, March 27, 2022.

The identified female was listed as a missing person from the Mobile, Alabama Police Department. This incident is currently being investigated by multiple jurisdictions including the D’Iberville Police Department.

This investigation is ongoing.
