Things to know before primary election

Primary Election Day is exactly one week from today and we have information on things you need to know before going to vote.

The party primaries are being held August 8th and voters will only be able to vote in one party’s primary.

If a runoff in the primary is necessary, it will be held August 29th. It’s helpful to look over the sample ballot for the Republican or Democratic party before coming to vote.

In the general election, all candidates will be on one ballot.

Of course, you must present an ID in order to vote.

Harrison County Circuit Clerk Connie Ladner wants to make sure you know where to vote due to recent redistricting. “Because we’ve had redistricting in the last couple of years, just make sure you are aware where you’re precinct is. If you don’t have a voter registration card or don’t remember where you go vote, you can always call the circuit clerk’s office and we can look it up for you so you’re prepared on election day, or you can go to the county website and click on precinct locator and that will give you directions for your polling place.”

If you won’t be able to vote in-person on Tuesday, you can still vote absentee through the circuit clerk’s office until Saturday at noon.
