The Shed eager to win the “Triple Crown” of barbeque after international win

The Shed Barbeque and Blues Joint competed May 15-18 in the world-renowned “Memphis in May” barbeque championships.

Now, the team at The Shed is ready to show off their third massive trophy after being named the 2024 grand champion of barbeque.

“To bring this title and to bring some extra positivity to the great state of Mississippi is really what we set out to do… and we did it,” said Co-founder, and sister of the “brother-sister BBQ duo”, Brooke Lewis. “It’s really about bringing it back to the great state of Mississippi. We’ve always been a very, very proud family from this state and we love to preach the gospel of BBQ and Mississippi.”

The Shed slow-roasted two 190-pound hogs and went through round after round of judging to score their third grand championship victory in 17 years.

“Well, I’ll tell you. We’ve been open for twenty-four years,” said Brad Orrison, The Shed Co-founder and brother of the “brother-sister BBQ duo“. “We’re here in front of our trophy case that we had to expand, and people say ‘Oh, you’ve won everything.’ and I say… No, we just don’t tell you when we lose.”

Despite the humility, the team from The Shed is one of only four to win three times.

This grand slam is not the end of the shed’s competition season. They’re dreaming of something bigger.

“We have to go to the Jack Daniels competition later on this year, and the American Royal World Series of Barbeque, and our goal is to win both of those,” Lewis said. “And we would have been the only team to win all three and get the triple crown.”

 “And I’m like already nervous about those,” Orrison said.

 The Shed will be back in the heat of it all on October 11th for the Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational Barbecue Competition. 

The Shed also wants to give a shout out to Marcio Borguesan, a Mississippi local who has his own competition team “Hog Addiction”. His team won the whole hog category at another competition – Smoke Slam — taking place in Memphis that same weekend.
