The run to remember
This morning, the Biloxi Bay Bridge was covered in blue as community members got in a run in memory of the men and women who gave their lives for freedom.
The ‘Wear Blue, Run to Remember’ is a support network for military families and serves as a yearly living memorial to those who died in combat.
Runner Jason Clayton tells News 25 he ran this morning in honor of a friend that made the ultimate sacrifice. “For a lot of people, especially families that have lost members of the armed service in combat, it’s not a really happy day. It’s more of a day of remembrance and that really doesn’t take away from the barbeque. That’s what these people fought for was their freedom to do that and that’s pretty much it. We’re out here remembering. We realize freedom isn’t free so we’re trying to help pay back.”
This year’s run was put on in part by Keesler family housing.
