The Pecan House prepares for busy Easter weekend
If you’re helping the Easter Bunny stock baskets with goodies, don’t forget to support our local candy shops.
News 25 stopped by the Pecan House in McHenry this morning as they were whipping up some divinity, a nougat-like confection made with egg white, corn syrup, and sugar.
Like their divinity, all of their candies are made in small batches with recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation.
Easter is one of their busier holidays and they do have some seasonal treats specifically for the day as well as their other pecan goodies. Pecan House Manager Chelsea Caudill said, “You’ll see lots of pecan pies this week. I think everybody likes to get them for their family gatherings, their Easter egg hunts. Lots of pralines, the fudge, the divinity, little bites that you can get together with your family, stuff like that.”
The McHenry and Gulfport stores will both be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday if you need to pick up any last-minute sweet treats for Easter.
