The Original X-Files Series Returns to Broadcast Television this Fall

Twentieth Television and the FOX Television Stations announce the addition of THE X-FILES to the MyNetworkTV programming lineup. Following the blockbuster return of an all-new chapter of THE X-FILES, the original episodes of Chris Carter’s iconic series will make its broadcast television return this fall. The announcement was made by Frank Cicha, SVP of Programming of the FOX Television Stations, and Greg Meidel, president of Twentieth Television.
Two episodes from previously aired seasons of THE X-FILES will be presented on a designated weeknight on MyNetworkTV. Additionally, the program starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson is cleared for weekend syndication on the FOX Television Stations.
The latest chapter of THE X-FILES captured the attention of tens of millions of viewers around the world with its record-setting, two-night return to FOX in January. Premiering within 24 hours on FOX in the U.S. and 80 countries internationally, the series delivered more than 50 million viewers, and set new ratings records in multiple markets. THE X-FILES concludes its six-episode season on Monday February 22nd at 8:00 PM on FOX.
In regards to the announcement, Meidel stated: “As anticipated, viewers have truly celebrated the return of THE X-FILES and we are thrilled that fans can enjoy the original chapter of the monumental series. The program is a wonderful addition to MyNetworkTV and the FOX Television Stations schedule; and in advance of the upfronts, an opportunity for advertisers to reconnect with one of television’s most iconic shows.”
With programming on Monday through Friday, MyNetworkTV reaches over 97% of the country; airing on the FOX Television Stations in each of the top 3 markets including New York (WWOR My9), Los Angeles (KCOP My13), and Chicago (WPWR My50).
Cicha added: “I think this was the fastest greenlight in the history of MyNetworkTV. The timing is just perfect.”
MyNetwork TV airs on WXXV FOX 25 from 10 p.m. until midnight Monday through Friday. X-Files will be coming to FOX 25 via MyNetwork this fall.
